soc_puppet: Drawing of a smiling fish skeleton (Something fishy here)
This is partly just updating-for-the-sake-of-updating, but I did at least want to say that I found this video with a possible solution to the "Why the frick do I have to walk 10,000 steps a day*?!" Pokéwalker problem.

Other solutions suggested in the comments were: Still shake it, but very slowly; shake slowly while on a moving vehicle; tape it to a ceiling fan on "low". Someone also suggested 'stick it to the side of a (clothes) drier', but there's any number of ways to interpret that, and I'm not sure any of them are a good/viable idea.

Personal solution, as I don't yet have a record player of my own: Stick the ends of disposable chopsticks through the belt hook, spin in an ellipse. This is likely to cause wrist problems later on, but as I have no ceiling fan at the moment, and still need to find/ask to borrow a record player, it will have to do. Not that I'm going to stop walking, of course; I just won't worry quite as much about it.

* 10,000 steps a day to unlock all of the unlockable-by-watts areas in 200 days, provided you don't spend any of your watts on dowsing or Pokéradar, and also provided your Pokémon doesn't find any randomly. As to why, apparently some Japanese health guy was like, "You need to walk at least 7,000 steps a day to be healthy, and 10,000 would be ideal," and Nintendo was like, "Hey, that's a great idea! Let's make our nerds be more active!" And yeah. Soooooo deeply flawed. You may be able to extort exercise from me, Nintendo, but I will resent you deeply for it! *fistshake*

Aaaand just so this entry isn't entirely Pokémon ramblings: here is a picture of my awesome roller skates, that I still need to practice using a million ways. Fffffff, we actually have a roller derby league in the area, I AM RUNNING OUT OF EXCUSES, augh.
