Podcast Rec
Mar. 29th, 2018 07:45 pmHi there, my name is Socchan, and I'm here to rec bomBARDed: A Musical Dungeons & Dragons Adventure.
This podcast is pretty new, and I’m really enjoying it so far. It’s the story of a half-orc barbarian, a dwarf druid, and a halfling rogue who have all recently discovered that they have bardic powers as well, and so are (metatextually) going multi-class. They meet and are teamed up at the famous bardic school of Strumlots, and go on magical, musical adventures.
The players and DM (that’s Dungeon Maestro for this podcast!) are the members of the Dallas-Fort Worth area band Lindby, and every episode the players compose an original song. (The first album of songs from the podcast was just released Tuesday! You can find it here.)
Here are some reasons you may want to check out bomBARDed:
* Puns
* Music
* Music theory
* Dungeons and Dragons
* Song parodies
* Pop culture references
* More puns
A quick accessibility note: There’s a fair amount of background music and sound effects in addition to the songs the group incorporates into storytelling. I think it works really well for the podcast itself, but that may make this podcast a miss for people who have problems making out words over background music. (If anyone has links to transcripts, I would be delighted to include them in this post!)
Anyway, that’s what I’ve been listening to lately. You can find it at the link above, Google Play, iTunes, and possibly other places as well.
