Fun With Language: Animal Groups
Apr. 3rd, 2018 11:04 pmThe same way we have specific names for groups of animals, there should exist similar/extended names for even larger groups of said animals.
The two that inspired this are crows and ravens (mostly because, at least once a year, I see a fuckton of crows around here). Since a group of crows is called a Murder, I feel like a really large group of crows should be a Massacre. Similarly, a group of ravens is an Unkindness, and a large group should be a Cruelty.
(A group of vultures is called a Parliament. Possibly a large group of vultures should be called a Government. (I honestly can't decide if this works or not, because while vultures and other scavengers do incredibly vital work for the environment and their ecosystems, they have a downright terrible reputation. ...Actually, that might make it perfect, never mind.))
And these are all birds, so I'm going to try to come up with one more: A group of fish is a School, a really large group of fish is an Education.
Additions welcome!
