Er... Help?
Mar. 6th, 2006 12:42 amRight, so. See, my attention span at the moment is doing this really crazy thing. Every time I read a fic/think about x fandom, I think to myself, "Gee, I should really become more active with this fandom. There's a ton of stuff I could do (even if I can't exactly think of all of it at the moment)!"
Right now there's four fandoms that are labeling themselves as options: Fullmetal Alchemist, xxxHolic, Naruto, and Detective Conan/Magic Kaito.
As soon as I realized what was going on--that the fandom that grabs my attention now could very well be keeping it for the next n months--I knew I had to do something drastic.
You see, my interest in DC/MK has been waning slightly for a while now. And I don't want it to go. There's still so much I have to do in this fandom, finishing Communications being essentially top among them (closely followed by Small Things, and then this pastfic idea that's been plaguing me and would be awesome as all hell). And while I think I can manage to regain interest in this series, I don't know if I can do it without help.
So, here's my request. I want you to throw all of the Detective Conan/Magic Kaito fic recs you possibly can at me. I am terribly backlogged due to aforementioned waning interest and need desperately to catch up. So point me to what's good. I don't care what it is or who it's by, I will at least give it a shot if you direct me to it.
So please, help drag my forcably back into the fandom that I've loved for so long. If I can break back into it now I may be able to find a balance between it and the other fandoms, but I do think I'll need that extra boost.
Oh, and in case you were wondering, this observation was prompted by
bard_linn's first steps into the DC/MK fandom: Factuality. Which you should go read now, because it is awesome and I say so. FMA fans, too.

Date: 2006-03-06 08:31 am (UTC)From what I understand from people who have replied that they like our stories, no one has read it. (it was one of our favourite ones to write)
-Catch me on chat, can send you some translated ShinKai doujin if you'd like. ^__^
Also, if you head over to Knightus' site, there has been a re-translation and scan of the first volume of Magic Kaito. It's amazing how much different it feels with good translations and pictures. And hearts in the text bubbles. ^__^

Which leads to thinking that catching Kaitou Kid would be a lot easier with a wand, an invisibility cloak and a broom.

Date: 2006-03-07 06:21 am (UTC)Slightly higher up the ladder than that would be "Oh, Hakuba's actually a wizard, 'cuz he's from England!" Which would be ...interesting, but doesn't account for all the time he's spent in Japan that would overlap his studies. Which of course can be wiped away by the handy Time Turner plot device but still sits wrong with me.
About the best case scenario that I could come up with would be Hakuba = wizard from above, only an early graduate. He would be investigating odd magic-like events and occurences in Japan for some reason.
That up there? Better than I could have hoped. You blew all of those ideas out of the water. You're dealing with actual structure and politics and stuff! So yeah. Hope that satisfied your curiosity.

Date: 2006-03-08 05:48 pm (UTC)I'm still tempted to have Kaitou use a time turner one time so he could stand right next to Hakuba and do a heist for humor potential.
I like the idea of Kid getting caught and having a WARRANT to do what he's been doing. *is lame*
