Wrongderful Interests and Comics
May. 1st, 2007 08:36 pmIt's journal update time, go!
First of all, I've got some new interests in the ol' list now:
Gliese 581 c (only two people interested in this, wth)
The God Eaters
tree suffrage
Zach Braff: superhero
And also passive activism, but that's less interesting. I'm willing to go on at length for any of these, should anyone prove interested. Also, I find it criminal that only nine people have The God Eaters listed as an interest. Read the book and intrestify it DD: If anyone still needs a link to it, you can find one on my List of Best Things Ever, which is now on its thirty-eighth Best Thing :Db
And now I'm going to change the subject completely to American Comics!
I. I recently read through number fourteen of The Blue Beetle? And not only is it an awesome comic, I got a very, very wrongderful fic idea for it. Which I definitely shouldn't write. Absolutely not. But the rest of you should start reading the comic if you haven't already! (Most fun I've had in the DCU since Young Justice, I'm tellin' you.)
In closing, I'd like to wish you all a happy cross-quarter day, and shove a meme I yoinked from
lyzzle at you:
1. Comment in this post with a pairing, a character, or a threesome.
2. I shall write you back a paragraph explaining what I think about it (good, bad, indifferent) and why.
3. Let's discuss / argue / CAPSLOCK at each other about it! I only ask that you don't get insulted, angry, mean, or stupid.
4. I promise not to use the words "EWWW GROSS" even if that's what I'm thinking.

Date: 2007-05-02 07:15 pm (UTC)Goob, huh? Well, all I can really think of off the top of my head is that he must not have been living with Lewis for very long, because otherwise his sleep schedule would've adjusted somehow. Also, as he was growing up into Bowler Hat Guy in the Alternate Timeline, he probably didn't get very good meals, which likely played a part in his 'mental issues'. I do kinda ship him pretty hard with Dor15, though ^^a

Date: 2007-05-02 08:53 pm (UTC)That's an interesting concept. I'd always assumed that he must have been rooming with Lewis from the start, but you bring up a good point.
There's also the fact that we can assume he never left the orphanage, so he didn't have much human contact, if any, which has been proven to inevitably lead to insanity. What I really wanted out of this, though, is what you think he might be like now.

Date: 2007-05-02 09:05 pm (UTC)Oh God yes, projective empathy ♥ So useful.
...Also, I have half a mind to write that Orpheus!Jet/Zuko fic and then have the two of them in the spirit world, except I can't figure out what nationality Ash would be. Kieran would be Earth Nation, but the only thing I could think of for Ash would be Water Tribe, and he doesn't really have the skin for it, even if I could get away with saying his hair is just "really light brown".
That's what I did too, at first, but the sleep thing doesn't work that way, so. And he went to school for at least a few years after Lewis was adopted, so I'm guessing his real isolation/malnutrition didn't start until the orphanage closed down.
As to what he's like now? Er, I'm tempted to think that when grown up after the change, his hygene is a lot better and he isn't bald. (I can so blame his hair loss on stress.) Or he at least has a better haircut. Possibly he got more into baseball, maybe even to the point of joining a league someday, and I want to assume that Cornelius still checks in with him sometimes. "Hey Wilbur, let's go see Uncle Goob! 8DDD"
DON'T MAKE ME WRITE IT, YOUNG LADY, BECAUSE I WILL. Also, that hat was good to him (for a certain value of good), and They Were So Married, Don't Deny It. Dor15 had him whipped. ((Mini-Dor15 = baby, d'awwwww ♥))no subject
Date: 2007-05-02 09:21 pm (UTC)Yay! I am totally feeling the Uncle Goob thing. XD

Date: 2007-05-02 09:25 pm (UTC)But Water Tribe has blue eyes, and Earth Kingdom eyes are generally green. ...Though yes, excellent point re: abilities.
It would be awesome and hilarious. "Why are you here? ...Are you trying to test out another one of your 'inventions for athletes'? 'Cuz you know how I feel about those." "...Of course not, Goob! Now just put this helmet on..." "I'd run if I were you, Uncle Mike."

Date: 2007-05-02 09:29 pm (UTC)...I didn't even consider that. But well, Kieran's eyes are odd for his nationality anyway, so...
A;kljasdf;lj. Yes. ♥♥♥♥♥

Date: 2007-05-02 09:45 pm (UTC)...You drive a hard bargain.

Date: 2007-05-02 09:48 pm (UTC)When the third season is half over already.I consider it perfectly reasonable, especially considering I'm writing you that Wilbur/Lewis enabling fic. ...Though if you need more convincing, you can make me cross-post both to your community of choice, and write another Wilbur/Lewis enabler to boot.

Date: 2007-05-02 09:53 pm (UTC)...This is true. And also tempting. I will go post it as soon as I muster up the energy to get out of this chair and move to the other computer.
