soc_puppet: Marceline the Vampire Queen [Adventure Time] drinks red from a dreamsheep (Omnomnom)

1. Solar flare! Being as I'm in range for potential low-altitude auroras, I'm currently debating whether I want to take the car out in the middle of the night and drive out to the land of Minimum Light Pollution to potentially view the northern lights in their hypothetical full glory, or if I just want to try and remember to take a walk outside instead.

Going out:
Possibly prettier!
I get to see the Milky Way, too!
Experience of a lifetime: enhanced?

Staying in:
Warmer
Better fuel economy
Less work

Decisions, decisions...

2. Last Saturday was Quire Cabaret! See how punctual I am in writing about it? I ended up not singing Skullcrusher Mountain after all. Once I saw that I wasn't on the preliminary schedule, I thought about pushing it, but there was only a week between that release and the concert and I figured I'd dropped the ball somehow and would just make up for it next time or something.

Anyway, I put my brown griffin (no pics yet, just imagine this but in brown) and my last extra copy of Steam Powered up for the silent auction. Steam Powered went for at least $25, which was where it was when I last saw the bidding sheet, and the griffin went for $22. I would be more disappointed by the griffin, but it was swept up by none other than Doctor Alphabet, who had been vaguely guarding the bidding sheet and expressed interest in possible future commissions. He was attending with one of my junior high teachers, whose son had been in the Quire in previous years and who remains to date my favorite teacher; while Cardcaptor Sakura was what originally made me sit down and accept LGBTQIA folks, this teacher is responsible for getting me started as an advocate of LGBTQIA rights and is possibly solely responsible for the fact that I managed to ask for help dealing with my clinical depression. She made a big impact on my life, and it was really great to see her again. Between the two of them, they dropped a nice chunk of change on a bunch silent auction items and got me out of a lot of the clean-up process ;)

I was also thanked by a few other people for providing something gluten-free in the snack buffet. Honestly, though, the gluten-free peanut butter cookies are possibly the easiest cookies I know how to make, and taste great besides. I picked up the recipe originally via Fandom Wank, and it has served me well since, so I'mma pass it on to anyone interested:

1 cup peanut butter
1 cup sugar
1 egg

Mix ingredients together thoroughly. Roll the cookie dough into balls and smoosh the balls with a fork onto a cookie tray. Cook for 10 minutes at 375°F. (I usually manage to separate the dough out into about three dozen cookies and have to shorten the time to 8 minutes, though 10 probably works for two dozen cookies.)

See? Super-easy cookies. You can also press chocolate stars or kisses or whatever in the middle instead of smooshing them with a fork; I find them absolutely divine with white chocolate candy melts in the middle, but I've a huge weakness for peanut butter and white chocolate together.

3. I slapped some more Dreamsheep icons together and threw them up here at [community profile] dreamsheep. There's some more Adventure Time sheep, some Homestuck god-tier sheep, and a few Pokéball sheep. I'm about done with Adventure Time sheep for now, though there's definitely more Homestuck and Pokémon sheep on the way eventually.
