Korra Season Finale

Well, that ending was a little Deus Ex Machina for me. (Avatar ex machina? Deus ex bending?) I mean, the end of the first series was, too, and it's not like they thought they were going to get a second season when they first wrote this, so I can see the roots of it, but that's mostly from a meta standpoint. And it's not that I'm not happy that Korra got her bending back/she can give bending back to the folks it was taken from, but it seems a little pat? Again, I might feel better about this when I re-watch the series, but for now it's thrown me out of the story a bit.
Also, MAKO YOU ASSHOLE, IF YOU DIDN'T WORK THINGS OUT WITH ASAMI BEFORE GOING TO KORRA THEN I WILL BE VERY ANGRY WITH YOU. I will write a fanfic in which I will make a character punch you in the mouth if I have to in order to express my rage, because you are being a total jerk here. Ooo, or better yet, I could make a horse (ostrich horse?) kick you! While not exactly true to that Japanese proverb, it would still be close, and would also be deeply satisfying to me.
Asami's totally gotten a raw deal these past few episodes. Not only is her boyfriend not being emotionally honest with her (or himself, until the last minute), but her dad has completely abandoned her/his love for her. I hope she gets a whole bunch of awesome stuff happening to her next season.
Anyone else catch the return of Aang's voice actor? :DD I'm also delighted by the glimpse we caught of Bumi and would love to see more of him, as well as Kya. Fingers crossed for next season!
Loved to see Naga and Pabu being awesome in these episodes ♥ That's totally something ATLA had more of than ATLOK so far, and it was great to see this series getting some of that.
More thoughts possibly to be added as I recall them.

Also, VERY unhappy she figures out how to airbend because MAKO is in danger. :( Also unhappy that Mako was more effective in a fight against Amon than she was. Also unhappy she gets no alone time to deal with her shit without a guy showing up to hold her.
I'm pretty rage-y right now.

Date: 2012-06-24 05:23 pm (UTC)It's also the fact that pretty much everything in the story comes at the cost of Korra's development as a character.
