Image WIP - Homestuck, RoseKan

soc_puppetI've had this image in my head for a while, and the other day I decided I'd finally get to work getting it out of my head.
There's a lot I have to say about this image, but I'm going to put that under a separate cut, so people who like to open things separately with the nifty little DW side-arrow thing can do so. Especially if they have bandwidth concerns.
See, the thing is, there actually are lavender roses, and they are totally gorgeous, and I thought it would be a really sweet idea to stick in a RoseKan fic at some point. Except then I kept thinking and thought, well, what if someone turned Rose into a rose? Like, literally? And that's where her outfit came from. And then I thought, well, who would do that, anyhow? And I figured it would probably be one of the Amporas because douchebags with White Science!!1!eleventy! And then I then I thought, well, if someone turned her into a rose, someone else is going to have to turn her back human again, and what's my favorite Rose-related ship? That's right, Rose/Kanaya! And then I thought, well, there's all this insect imagery and other connections to trolls in canon, why not just make Kanaya a butterfly? Or, better yet, a moth, since trolls are nocturnal? And of course she has to kiss Rose to fix the spell, because magic and fairy tales.
So here's how the scenario goes in my head:
Rose does something to piss off one of the Amporas (probably Eridan), who finds out something about Earth flora and hey, there's this flower that's the same as Rose's name! Let's get revenge by turning her into one! Only then Kanaya finds out and is righteously pissed off, so she bullies either the first Ampora or the second Ampora into helping her fix this horrible mess. Fixer!Ampora says, well, it's pretty strongmagic white science, so there's not a lot he can do, but if he tries this, this, and this, maybe it'll work? So he turns Kanaya into a luna moth (because we don't know what her god tier wings would look like yet) and she has five days nights to find Rose and break the spell with a kiss, because that's how long adult luna moths live. And if she doesn't find Rose and break the spell, Rose is stuck as a rose forever possibly. (Or Kanaya bullies someone into FIXING THINGS FOR REAL THIS TIME, DON'T MAKE ME GET THE LIPSTICK. Whichever.) But that's not a problem, because Kanaya finds Rose in the nick of time and happily ever after.
I don't plan to actually write the fic involved, because Cinderkat and the epilogue of Pheromone Woes and didn't I say something about maybe doing NaNo this year? But if someone here does, I would be delighted to read it :)
Plans for this image:
Well, for starters, I'm going to color it. I'm probably going to move Rose and Kanaya over to the left, because I think it could make a neat desktop and I don't like sticking icons over pretty pictures, though I might also make a right-oriented version because other people like other things. I'm going to find a legit skyscape to stick in the background with Virgo prominently featured and then color in the relevant stars jade green and turn the brightness up a notch, because Kanaya. I may or may not keep the moon. I'll probably keep an extra file with Kanaya's wings on a separate level, so I can maybe switch them out when/if (please be when) we find out what her god tier wings look like. I'm also going to do something with her dress, though I'm not entirely sure what yet. Rose is going to be in a dark green onesie with lighter green boots/gloves (or the other way 'round), and her petals are going to be lavender, natch.
I tried to minimize the amount of gray I took out of the pencil image, because that gray can convey a lot of stuff, though I did take away the ghost-lines of Kanaya's butt and legs under her skirt. I just thought it'd look creepy if I didn't. Also, I have no idea how Rose ended up with Dem Glutes. The way her arms are positioned probably emphasizes her assets extra, but it was the only way I could think of to make stem-leaves make sense. Oh, and I cranked up the "moon" aspect on Kanaya's wings; on regular luna moths, they're just little white eyespots, but I figured, why not?
And, uh, that's all I have to say about this pic, I think. Er. I hope you like it?
