It is two (2) broken ribs. And a little bit of kidney something, possibly from the ibuprofen Mom was prescribed yesterday. We thought it was one fractured rib yesterday, because it was in a very difficult place to tell on x-rays—and it even might have been, but Mom coughed this afternoon and suddenly everything got much worse and yesterday's prescription wasn't working on her pain anymore. Anyway, she got a CT scan, and turns out there's two broken ribs.
The worst part is she's getting muscle spasms in the area of the break. They're worst when she has to move her core muscles (sitting vs standing vs laying down, so you can imagine trips to the bathroom are not great), but they also happen somewhat regularly when she's staying still.
Dad has assured me that he's got everything handled and that I should still go and do the convention, and Mom agreed; my brother and sister-in-law also live in town and SIL has offered to come over and help walk Chester in the evenings. I'll probably give my fellow staffers a heads-up, and I plan to call and/or message Mom frequently, but for now I'm still on board for the con.
