Mermaid is done, yay!

Her skin is a couple tones darker than the previous mermaid I made, which was a deliberate choice, as was the decision to give her a pink tail. The ribbon was my mom's suggestion, and I have to say it looks pretty nice!
This mermaid is destined to be a Christmas gift for the six-year-old Black girl who lives across the back yard from us. The first one was originally going to be for her, but then we had a one-year-old visit who's mixed race, and while one is still a little young for this sort of doll, I still thought it was a good idea. (Her mom texted a thank-you when she saw the doll a few hours later, so I think I did okay 😉)
I really like how this one's hair turned out! I switched yarns for her to ...I think the brand is Homespun? It's a really chunky yarn that's barely two-ply, so I cut it to a good length, stole the thread that works as the second ply from each of the strands, and looped the remaining fluff onto the mermaid's head. I then trimmed her hair to even out the edges. It's got a very good texture for this, I think, and took a lot less time than my efforts on the first one 😅
Up next: I start dedicated work on the present for my nibling! And then after that I might tweak this pattern again, see if I can come up with a single crochet version to sell or something.
