Going back for a moment to "Tampon Tim" Walz: I feel like there's a very good argument to be made for tampons to be available in every single classroom across the country, and that is that they can be used in an emergency to plug bullet and other puncture-type wounds.

And if people aren't comfortable with that, they can always work on ways to reduce school shootings instead.

It seems like it was originally discovered in the context of active war zones (the Snopes article I linked above says they researchers have word-of-mouth stories of such use going back to the Vietnam War), which kinda helps a little? Also, the last paragraph from the article is also kinda fun/sheds more light on things:

Materials used in the manufacture of feminine products are especially well suited to wound care. Cellucotton, the substance used in Kotex (sanitary napkins), was devised for the purpose of improving bandages in World War I. In an odd way, with tampons being employed as emergency wound dressings in the field in Iraq, these products have come full circle.

So yeah! Pretty nifty on the one hand, something we can potentially use to push back against bullshit on the other.

Ahh! The many uses of technology are outstanding.
