* Check for quiet areas where you can nap. Most campuses have something of the sort. Student union and library are the first places to look, but other buildings sometimes have a nap room, quiet room, meditation area, etc.
* See if there are other classes or workshops outside of official credit-earning classes that you could take. There are usually lots, which may be listed on bulletin boards or websites.
* Check for clubs, sports, games, or other entertaining activities. These usually have a homepage but may also appear on bulletin boards in their building or department.
* Explore other options in town at libraries, community centers, game stores, book stores, etc. to find activities that might appeal to you.
* Locate nearby parks where you could sit or walk and relax in nature. That's generally good for mental health.
* If you make friends in that town, you could visit with them some of the time. Go out for lunch or something.
* Consider taking up a portable hobby such as knitting.
* In college, I tried to pack my classes close together, but when I had a large chunk of time, I'd go to a library and just do all the homework then. If I didn't have homework, I'd use the time to write. Five hours is a great chunk of time for writing -- or in your case, perhaps art.
