Check the stacks. Colleges almost always put study carrels down there, and it's a popular place to stash other furniture, like couches and easy chairs, that are too battered to put front and center but not broken enough to throw out.
Also worth checking are satellite collections, which often get less traffic than the main library(s) because they are stashed in scattered buildings, and they often have comfy furniture in there.
