soc_puppet: Dreamsheep as Lumpy Space Princess from Adventure Time (Just let your conscience be your guide!)
I have returned from Minnesota! I didn't buy a lot at the Mall of America, but I spent lots of money in Half Price Books stores in the surrounding area :Db Remind me to detail my haul tomorrow or something.

More importantly! (Okay, not really; it's just more recent.) Today's weather was really nice~ So nice, in fact, that I decided to eat my dinner by the river, walking there and back to hopefully start the habit of getting at least a little exercise every few days. It was a pleasant walk, if shorter than I expected, and I enjoyed my solitary meal muchly. Afterwords, I spent a few minutes walking around the small park area, just enjoying the scenery - picking out 'coon prints in the mud, watching a near-by pair of Mallards, that sort of thing. And then my social conscience struck.

See, in Girl Scouts, they drummed the lesson into us, "Leave a place better than when you found it," and especially in regards to places like parks and classrooms. So I dedicated a few minutes to rounding up bits of trash from the ground, stuffing them in my empty sandwich bag, and throwing the whole thing out before I left. I also picked up an empty soda can, deciding that the five cent deposit on it was worth the effort.

On my walk back, I was idly watching the grassy area by the sidewalk, noticing bits and pieces here and there (it was just after a game weekend, after all), when what should catch my eye but a rather rain-worn ten dollar bill laying in the grass. My thought process was roughly as follows:

1) O_O! Mine! *dive, grab, pocket*
2) Wow, it's like a thank-you for picking up trash or something ¦Db
3) ...Though now that I think of it, I don't think I really did ten dollars' worth of trash-retrieval at the river.
4) *contemplates money* *contemplates the "thank-you"*
5) I guess I'll pick up a little more on the way home :/

So I picked up another handful or so while walking up the hill. I suppose it might've been considered a thank-you for the thank-you, but in the back of my head I was probably just hoping to find more money ^^a Ah, well. Whatever gets the ground clean, I guess ;)

(Incidentally, the title of this post was almost "I guess it pays to pick up trash," but then I thought about it the wrong way and decided to re-word it ._.a Other words not appearing in this post: Karma, for entirely different reasons that I would feel preachy talking about, s-sigh.)
