soc_puppet: Dreamsheep as Lumpy Space Princess from Adventure Time (Astronomy OTP)
So hey. Remember that $10 I found on Monday?

Well, tonight, as I was walking with Chris to the bus stop, some guy on the street handed me a (tiny) flyer for a J[AMNESTY] Benefit Concert. Donations were to go to the local Rape Victim Advocacy Program and also the Pretty Bird Woman House. It also started within roughly half an hour of my being informed of it.

Sadly, I don't deal well with last-minute planning for such things. My conscience, however, started singing; I hadn't donated the last time Pretty Bird Woman House was being linked around the web, and it's definitely a worthy cause, and I had just found that ten dollars laying around and wouldn't have had it otherwise... So, in the ten minutes between us arriving at the bus stop and the bus' scheduled arrival time, I more-or-less dashed the less-than-a-block to the building where the concert was, up two flights of stairs, and asked if they were accepting donations yet. They were ._.b I'm pretty sure I was the first person to donate tonight, too.

I dashed off again with an, "I'm getting up early tomorrow so I can't stay for the concert, but I wanted to do what I could!" and made it to the bus stop with a minute or two to spare, even.

So right now, my wallet and my convention madness are somewhat unhappy with me, what with me planning to attend Anime Detour next weekend and also having just given away free money and all without even staying for any of the music and/or inspirational/slam-poet business. The rest of my conscience is being all, "WTF, if you were planning on giving more than their five dollar 'suggested donation', you should have emptied your wallet." Ego is currently balancing the two by writing the head-canon that the "extra" five dollars was for/on behalf of Chris.

I have no idea why I'm writing this, except that I wanted to, and I guess I wanted to say that, no matter how much my selfish instincts are yelling at me right now, I'm sure they'll shut up before the part of me that's angrily proud does. Hopefully I'll go to the one next year, and be able to stay for the music as well.

[Future donation plans: [livejournal.com profile] verb_noire. I also plan to submit something there eventually, but uh. I take forever doing stuff, so. Anyway, go check it out!]
