Lifely update
May. 29th, 2013 09:25 pmMore than a month after my basement flooded, I'm back in my old room downstairs! It's still not completely moved in, but I've got the biggies there: the bed, a light fixture, my computer :P
My yarn stash is also down here. I just cut it down close to half of what it was. It was tough - there were a few skeins that I really wanted to keep, just 'cuz they were so pretty, but I couldn't justify it to myself, so out they're going. I did keep a single skein for pretty reasons, and two for sentimental reasons, but otherwise? I can see myself using all of it.
Tomorrow, Maude help me, I'm going after books and DVDs. I anticipate it being near painful, but it needs to be done. At least a few things will be set aside to be donated as volunteer prizes for AnimeIowa, and maybe a few more as trade items for the swap meet, but everything else is probably going straight to Half Price Booksso I can replace them with yet more books and DVDs. After that, probably other random stuff.
Speaking of DVDs, apparently season two of Teen Wolf is finally on the shelves for buyin'. Which I did. I am now current through episode 2x08, making me that much closer to actually being up-to-date when the new season starts to air :P It was a little difficult to remember why I love the show during 2x06, what with embarrassment squick running rampant, but it didn't take long before I was a believer again. Good entertainment, that is. (Do I think it's high quality TV? Er. Look, a distraction!)
It is good to know where some of the other fandom memes come from, now that I've finally encountered them in canon. (Also reinforcing my MKR comparison, because lol.) Though, I gotta ask: since when is underclassmen having access to Prom an actual thing? I thought that was part of the whole Prom deal: only upperclassmen can get tickets, so unless a Senior or a Junior has reason to buy you a ticket, you're shit outta luck. Come on, people, we're not supposed to be actively making this more difficult for non-USians to understand! (Though, as a native USian, I still don't get Homecoming. I know it has something to do with football, and that's about it.)
In other news, it is supremely good to be living in the same room as my rats again <3 I love watching them during the day and interacting with them when I can and saying goodnight to them before I go to sleep.
