Stuff from today
Aug. 5th, 2024 11:10 pmNeutral: I took my car into the shop for an oil change. I've still been having trouble with rain leaking in and absolutely soaking the passenger side floor, front and back, so I brought it up again and asked my mechanic to try something else. They did some digging around and found out that I needed a new air filter, and also some holes were majorly blocked up. It cost me about $300, but honestly, if that fixes it? Worth it.
Annoying: Mom and Dad went to visit a friend in the countryside today. While there, they like to stop at a bulk foods store (fun!) and a scratch-and-dent foods store (...depends what you buy). Dad especially likes to fill up banana boxes worth of stuff at the scratch-and-dent food store, and whenever he does food shopping of any magnitude, he likes to offload the "putting stuff away" part on me. So when I went upstairs for dinner and saw a bunch of cans and bagged produce sitting on the counter, I knew what was coming up.
Unfortunately, there was finally no fucking room for the majority of it. I ended up taking an hour cleaning out the fridge and unshelving all the crap from previous trips to the scratch-and-dentโfrom a single shelf in the pantry. We threw most of it out, since I wasn't prepared to send it to a food pantry (I wasn't prepared to verify how much of it had even expired in just the past year, let alone if any of it was still good; there were some cans that expired a decade ago in there!), and I reorganized the shelf so it looks much better. It was tiring, but it needed to be done. Honestly, though, I wish Dad would've taken initiative for once and put the stuff away himself so I could have eaten dinner before doing all of that.
Hooray!: I just heard back about being a poll worker! It sounds like I'll be getting the job as soon as I fill out some paperwork and send it in ๐ (Seems like the person I called on Friday emailed it to me after finishing the task she was working on, which is cool, but since I was expecting a call, I didn't think to check that email account until today ๐ Still, I'm gonna be a Precinct Election Official, woo-hoo!)
