Similarly, driving an hour and a half on the open road in a bus piques one's appetite, especially when one has not gotten a terribly good breakfast earlier in the day. It was enough to stop the shakes, I thought I'd be fine!
In other news, there was an owl in our backyard today. So I took pictures:
Family's guessing it's a barred owl. Saw it when I went to get the mower and attack the front lawn. It was still more-or-less there when I left for the library earlier tonight. Socool o_o.
I would also like to take this moment to briefly complain about the Broadway adaptation of The Lion King. I saw it on the stage in question when I was eleven, and while I found myself A-OK with the gender swapping of Rafiki (Needs moar ♀ characters!, someone in charge said; Let's just change one of the ones we have!, someone else said), I now (and possibly also then) find myself rather irked by the change in Nala's motive for leaving the central pridelands prior to finding Simba. To the me of today, it stinks of hokey plot device. I mean, come on! The best alternate reason you can come up with for Nala to leave focuses on making her a victimized female?! If I am interpreting my feelings correctly, then I am insulted on behalf of the character. And. Stuff. Grr! (Also, props to Disney for not originally taking that route, and giving her a Perfectly Legit Reason for branching out instead of trying to amp up the drama unnecessarily. Remind me - should I be surprised to be saying that about Disney, or not?)

....There is a mite on my screen. It is running away veeeerrry fast. It's veeeeerrrry tiny. I am strangely charmed. *watches the mite*

I -do- remember seeing a Disney commercial break special on the musical and one of the influential people mentioning that they wanted to give Nala a better/stronger reason to leave, since food was the only reason she left in the movie.
