Lol! I think it's mostly because the other humans (especially Mom, whose dog he primarily is) tend to be gone in the mornings when he does this, so he's not getting the attention and pampering elsewhere. And then in the evenings, he wants a bit more stimulation and excitement, so gotta hunt down those toys!
