Happy/Sad/WTF/???
Mar. 29th, 2011 12:06 amHappy: I'm almost finished with England and America! All they need now is hair and faces. And maybe a few other details here or there.
Right now, America has a little bit of hair, which doesn't look very good without the rest to fill it in. He also has glasses, which I crafted out of wire; he'll only be keeping those if I can't find anything better at Hobby Lobby (the one remaining general craft store in the area I've left to check; I've been to two Michael's, one Jo-Anne's, and one branch of a former big name that has died off except for here and three other cities in the US), but I'm reasonably happy with them.
...England currently looks like someone prototyped the Hetalia manga with Doc Scratch and a ball of yarn. As a result, I've started to think of him as Lord England, for the two other fans in existence who will get that. (Yes, I know Scratch =/= LE. I don't care. Pun is punny.)
Anyway, hair is tedious but relatively manageable, and faces are fiddly but fun, and I anticipate being done with these two in the next few days. Then, it's Ted Kord time :Dbb (And if I finish him on time for the hypothetical second round of
help_japan, more volunteering! And related self-pity!)
Sad: RIP, Diana Wynne Jones. While I did not fangirl you as frequently or as deeply as you may have warranted, the world is certainly richer for you having been here, and poorer for your loss.
WTF: I'm actually a little surprised this isn't all over my circle/f'list already. Homophobic shit went down in Publishing Town. It should come as no surprise that I am completely unimpressed by the asses of the editor/publishing company(ies?) involved, and do wish they'd put those things away already.
Hat tip to (and another wonderful post at) Upstart Crow, at whose journal I currently lurk to pick up tidbits on Steam Powered II and other upcoming projects. (I should just friend her journal and be done with it, really.)
???: I have a job interview tomorrow? 10:30. I'm not entirely sure how I'm getting there just yet; there's a good chance it will be by bus, though I do hope car will be an option - if for no other reason than I will be able to bring things with me that I can then stow in the car so I at least appear a little less anxious.
There's, uh, interesting circumstances under which I learned of this job opening, which I will possibly share later. Maybe. Er. Yes.
Sleep now, I think. Yes, that would be good.
