Pronoun Trouble

I really need to look up the differences between cluster headaches and migraines again, because I don't think I remember the headaches of my younger years lasting quite so long or involving a sort of "hangover" period afterwards... Pain seems about the same, though maybe a bit less? I remember having a really graphic comparison when I was getting them in grade school, and I don't think this most recent one has reached quite that level of pain, but it could just be because I had less experience with pain when I was a youngster.

It might also be helpful for me to start keeping some sort of pain diary, track my symptoms and experiences and so forth. I'm about 90% sure this most recent hell headache was caused by prolonged overstimulation (yet another reason to find a new job), but keeping more detailed observations certainly can't hurt.


On a completely different note, anyone know how worried I should be about magnets and modern technology these days? I mean, I'm pretty sure keeping them away from credit cards is still important, but I'm also fairly sure that LCD screens at least aren't as sensitive to magnets as the previous type, and I've got no idea when it comes to the actual computational guts. I bring this up only because my FunKey S seems to have a magnet built into it and also remember a time when Magnets Plus Electronics Equals No.

We're back to masks full time at work, starting on Monday. Which: Thank heavens! I'm deeply relieved that someone had enough sense to make that call. I was not looking forward to classes starting again with students from all over the place and at least one anti-Covid-vaccine coworker.

By roughly 11:30am tomorrow, two weeks will have passed since my second Covid shot. In celebration, tomorrow evening I will be attending crafting night, hosted by my friend Steve the Chainmaille Guy, for the first time in well over a year! There will be pizza and hangouts and chatting and, of course, crafting. Our other crafting buddies won't be fully vaxxed for another couple of weeks, and so won't be attending this one, but this is definitely a slice of normal that I'm very much looking forward to getting safely back to.

First covid vaccine shot is scheduled for this upcoming Friday, woot! 😁

So apparently the Covid vaccine can cause an extra heavy period. I'll have to keep that in mind when I get vaccinated with regards to my current endo treatment.

When my doctor asked me at my appointment on Monday whether my recent health troubles had made me feel anemic, I honestly hadn't thought about it, so I guessed "no". I'm now thinking the answer should almost certainly have been "yes" instead.

The good news is, I've stocked up somewhat on Gatorade and now know what to watch for, and between the blood sample the doctor's office took on Monday and the ultrasound tomorrow, we should have a better idea what's going on.

The bad news is all the doughnuts I bought yesterday when I went to pick up Gatorade and a few other things are now gone.

Guess I'll just have to make myself something sweet for when I feel like I need a stronger chemical pick-me-up and then hide it from my parents.

I don't think I've posted about it yet, but my psychiatrist managed to hook me up with someone to help me make sure I get and stay on some form of health coverage! Over the past few months, she helped me re-apply for Medicaid (got it!) and make optical, dental, and physical appointments.

The optical went first, and I've had two fresh pairs of glasses with a brand new prescription for over a month now. One pair has bright blue plastic frames that look super snazzy and I love, but pinch a bit too much. The other pair is silver-colored metal that fits better, and the parts around the lenses? The top is purple and the bottom is green, with the silver color showing on the bridge and where the ear pieces connect to divide the colors—which makes them stealth genderqueer pride glasses 😁🤓 Every time I remember that, I lose any disappointment at not wearing my super cute plastic frames more often.

So that's what's up for now! I'll provide an update on the thyroid thing once I know more.
