soc_puppet: Dreamsheep with a ball of white yarn for a body (Crochet)
Sweet merciful heavens, has it really been five months since I've posted crochet pics? I am positively ashamed. And rather surprised; I know I didn't get much crocheting done while school was on, but it's been out for over a month now, and I even posted a new pattern (pics included) at [personal profile] hooked_on_anime. I honestly hadn't realized it had been so long since I'd posted any here.

Well, it's high time I fixed that! Amigurumi pic dump ahoy!

That's about it for now. I want to get a bunch of little things made up to sell for AnimeIowa, and I'm doing fairly well in that respect with corn and flower hair clips, but there's less than a month to go and I need to get moving.

Oh, that reminds me; I also need to bake something for craft party tomorrow. Nutella cupcakes, here I come!

Edit: Went through and changed some of the images to links in order to conserve bandwidth.

A few weeks back, not long after I made that epic trade of griffin for reconstructed violin, I sold a second griffin to Steven Todd of Wandering Mail (Facebook link). He proceeded to take that griffin and put a chain mail vest-thingy on it. Shortly after, he sold it to, IIRC, Silver Gryphon Games, who had been looking for a handcrafted mascot for some time but had never thought of crochet as a potential medium. And now, at long last, I have pictures of the mail-decked griffin!

Just a few this time; most of my recent work has been to re-stock merchandise at either my Etsy store or White Rabbit.

Winter Storm Dragon )

And that brings this picdump to a close. Tune in next time, when I'll post pics of - I'm not entirely sure just now. Well, tune in next time to find out what I'll post pics of, then.

BAM!

Tetris blanket is listed, hells yeah! Right on time for Cyber Monday, too. In fact, that's the reason I'm still up right now; otherwise I'd be at least attempting to sleep ^^a

Also managed to snap a photo of the black opal dragon that showed off its "fire" better; had to use the macro setting, what is up with that. That can be seen here, if you're interested. I'll be sticking it in the sharing post sooner or later.

Anyway, sleep now, I think. Back to school tomorrow morning (sob sob my Monday schedule is terrible right now sob).

Woo, more amigurumi pics!

Black Opal Dragon )

In addition to the black opal dragon, I added another two plain-colored griffins to my Etsy store, one in black and one in brown. I figured I'd skip pics of them for now, though :P With any luck, I'll be adding my Tetris blanket there sometime soon as well.

Quick reminder: I've got offers up at [profile] fandomaid to raise money for Superstorm Sandy relief. My customary offer is up here; I'm also making Dr. Hooves available in the auction.

Edit: Now with Etsy links! (Good grief, self...)
soc_puppet: Dreamsheep with a ball of white yarn for a body (Crochet)
Only two for now; I took a lot of time off for AnimeIowa, and then haven't really picked it up too well since. Though I did pick up a pencil again, as mentioned in the previous post. And also typed up more patterns, which is yay. Anyhow!

Tiger Griffin )

Yellow Dog )

Immediately next on my to-crochet list is Clubs Deuce, for when my brother starts part two of Plush Sleuth upon moving into his new apartment. The original is quite hilarious, I recommend everyone read it :3
soc_puppet: Drawing of a smiling fish skeleton (Fishbone)
Because I have a pig with wings in this set, that's why. Alternately it's Flashback version, since a lot of this stuff go back to stuff I've mentioned or even made before.

This also isn't my best set of photos from a technical standpoint, but whatever, I'll retake stuff later if I have to. Photographing is done for today. I've re-taken all the pictures, and now they look much better, yay! Also, I have finally started making everything the same height instead of the same width. Why the editing program I use "remembers" the previous measurement I used for width rather than height I'm sure I'll never know.

Pigwings )

And that's all for now! Tigerstripe griffin almost made it, but its stripes aren't finished yet. Sigh. Maybe next time - hopefully I'll have a Vodka Mutini then as well ::3

Wow, this took way longer than I meant it to. His pics are resized now, though, and ready to share!

Sephy-kins )

Three part photo dump complete! Now I just need to take pictures of everything I've crocheted since then and get started resizing and uploading them 9_9a This could take a while.

OMG y'all, I have such a ridiculous number of amigurumi pics to share I can't even a coherent sentence. In the interest of possibly preserving my photobucket bandwidth a while longer, I'll be posting in three batches: One will be the stuff I brought to that craft show at the beginning of the month, one will be almost everything else that I haven't shared pictures of, and the last will be of Sephiroth-pony. (Sephy-kins is last because I haven't edited his photos yet.)

I just - Here. THE THINGS THAT I MADE, LET ME SHOW THEM TO YOU.

Asian-style dragon remakes )

Flower hair clips )

Floppy Kitty Army )

And that was almost all I brought with me to the show. At the very last minute (by which I mean after I'd dropped off the cats, dragons, and flower clips), I found out Kate was okay with me sticking around at the table, so I zipped home to get some yarn to work with while I was there, as well as the white griffin on a whim. Much to my surprise, the white griffin ended up selling! I had to retire its listing on Etsy, but I'm not complaining. I've got another one with the exact same coloring in the works so I can put that listing back up and not 'lose' the twenty cents it cost me. ("Oh noes, I'm practically out twenty cents! Whatever shall I do!" Excuse me while I roll my eyes at myself.)

Next set is going up soon. I plan on later tonight or sometime tomorrow.

Anyway, that's all for now. Coming soon: More sparkle!dragons, and Sephiroth-pony.

Griffin time, woo!

Griffin pics )

Another quick reminder, I've got an offer for custom crochet work up for bidding here at [livejournal.com profile] help_mindanao. It's open through the 20th, so take a glance if you've got the cash to spare on flood relief.
soc_puppet: Words "Creative Process" in purple (Crafts)
Presenting: crocheted Jig the Goblin, from the series by [livejournal.com profile] jimhines.

I've other pics to post, but Jig gets his own entry, since otherwise it's going to be an all-you-can-eat bandwidth buffet, and I already learned the hard way that that's a bad idea. Bandwidth cafeteria is much better.

Plush Jig the Goblin )

As a reminder, the crochet pattern for Smudge (with instructions on how to make the fire) is over here. Jig's pattern is not up yet, but should be by the end of the week - feel free to bug me if it isn't. It is very similar to Dobby the House Elf's pattern, though, if you want to give alteration a try.

As a second reminder, I've made my crochet services available for the fannish charity auction [livejournal.com profile] help_mindanao right over here. So if you think you'd like something crocheted by me, this is a great opportunity to get it!

Here's the pic I promised :3b

Tetris blankeeeeeeetttt )

For my birthday, I got many well wishes, a dinner out with my parents, sparkly yarn, and a Bamboo Capture drawing tablet (that I have yet to actually hook up). I'm looking forward to seeing what it can do :)

I have somewhat more mixed feelings on the yarn. It's Red Heart Holiday red-with-silver and white-with-silver and kinda lumpy. While I was already planning to make an ice dragon with white-with-silver yarn, I'm not sure whether the texture will work for me here. If it does, which I am sincerely hoping it will, that still leaves the question of what on earth I could make that's red with silver sparklies. Maybe Wizard-of-Oz-style slippers? (Actually, that could be pretty good...) IDK :/ Any thoughts?

Anywho, I'll try and get these up on [personal profile] hooked_on_anime sometime in the near future. In the mean time, I've got some minor pattern editing to do, and a Serious Question to answer.
soc_puppet: Words "Baseless Opinion" in orange (Baseless Opinion)
Of all the things there are a lack of in all the forms of media out there, this is probably one of the least significant and definitely one of the least important.

But it still bugs me, just a teensy bit, that knitting is the default yarn craft.

Someone, anyone, please tell me there is a series with even a throwaway character who crochets. I will be so much happier inside.

(And for the record, the crochet mystery series reeeaaaaally didn't work for me. I almost instantly latched onto the character with an anxiety disorder, but otherwise the book I tried to read was a mess of internalized misogyny and fat-phobia and I couldn't get more than a few chapters into it. I wanted to like it so bad, because CROCHET! In the spotlight, even! But no; between the overbearing cop boyfriend who didn't respect the limits Main Character wanted to put on their relationship, jerkass lady cop who wanted Boyfriend for herself and now has an unreasonable grudge against Main Character that she allows to interfere with her work, jerkass coworker who has a grudge against Main Character for getting the job she wanted, body policing in both directions, and I'm sure a few more things that have slipped my mind, I completely lost interest. I managed to not actually throw the book across the room, but that's probably due to me quitting it instead. *sigh* At least I have Adventure Time for viola-related fulfillment :( )

I should probably just address this question to [community profile] crochet and be done with it. If anyone knows, they will. Er, I imagine.

And here's the big one! Ordered by how many pictures they have, from least to most. PegaCid trounces Dragon by one photo; I guess it's the accessories :P

Dr. Whooves )

Red-Crowned Cranes )

Epic Dragon )

PegaCid )

That's all for now, but I figure it's enough for just about anyone ;) Immediately next on the list is Constellation/TimeTrial dragon, whom I've already started on :3b
soc_puppet: Words "Creative Process" in purple (Creative Process)
Just a small picdump this time. I would've included pictures of Dragon, since it's done, but I ended up not liking any of them :/ He'll be in the next one with Dr. Whooves and PegaCid (and hopefully also wedding cranes).

Mechazawa Beta )

Nitori )

As far as my other projects go:
* Dr. Whoof and Epic Dragon are done and ready for their photo shoots
* PegaCid has his jacket and scarf finished and his mane and tail attached; I still need to make his face and cutie mark, as well as boots and googles
* Wedding cranes are on my to-do list immediately after PegaCid is finished
* They are to be followed by Time Trial/Constellation epic dragon, who will be gorgeous
* Somewhere in there, either before or after TT/C dragon, will be either something more artsy (I'm hoping for Venus de Milo, though I'd also go for nailing down the pattern on Woman With Plants) or something cute (fruit! with faces!)
* Anything else :P
soc_puppet: Words "Creative Process" in purple (Creative Process)
I finished him! And am quite proud of him, too :3b He was delivered to his delighted new owner on Sunday, at which point I collected my money, as well as the "Who do I make next?" answer. (Said answer is PegaCid. Yes, we decided that wings were definitely going to be a Thing. And yes, the fact that they are frequently shipped together also influenced the decision. I'll have to see if I can't get a picture of them together when Cid's done. Ooo, maybe I can crochet an extra feather as well, hit up one of the FiM fic pega-shipping tropes ♥ :D ...Okay, I'm done with the terrible pegasus puns now, really.)

Picture time! )

Next on the crochet agenda, in no particular order:
* Mechazawa Beta
* A new Perry the Platypus, with a side-order of re-vamping the hell out of my first pattern. Seriously, that thing is a mess. I'm surprised so many people were even able to use it!
* PegaCid, as mentioned
* Way too many mini-Squiddles
* Full size Lemonsnout?
* Medium size scalemate?
* CHARITY STUFF - oh gosh that total has gotten so high @_@ That's a personal fundraising record, right there. Jebus.
* Venus de Milo, Scream, Thinker, second Woman With Plant(s) to possibly sell at high-end art gallery (still somewhat blown away by that being a possibility) - definitely writing all the patterns down

And looking into Etsy store details can probably fit between projects somehow.

Anywho, back to the hook! ...Or procrastinating, whichever.
soc_puppet: Words "Creative Process" in purple (Creative Process)
Epic photo dump ahoy! Not only are there three projects I've been sitting on pictures of for far too long, I just finished another three within the past week or so. I've really been booking on my projects lately, which is good :3b

Anywho, pictures.

Today I got to work on FFVIIVincent!Pony. Or perhaps I should say back to work, as his basic body has been done since before AI 9_9a Anyway, I've been using this pic as a reference, and he now has hair and some very fancy horseshoes going for him. The gold isn't quite the right color, but I figure it's probably close enough. I plan to tackle his cloak tomorrow, maybe get his eyes and cutie mark on Tuesday? We'll see how things go. My current goal is to have him done by this weekend, so he can go to his new home (and hopefully I'll be able to start work on one of his buddies).

I also wanted to say that I've been thoroughly encouraged to put together some good crochet works and take them by our local ritzy 3D art shop, see if they wouldn't be interested in selling them :) At first I was thinking things along the lines of Tiny Tiger, but my parents suggested I go with Woman With Plant(s) and the like instead. So now I need to think of other paintings to imitate with crochet. Any suggestions, lovely f'list/circle?

Final thing! Just a quick reminder that I've got a charity offer up at [livejournal.com profile] fandomaid to benefit Somalia, which is suffering from a terrible drought, famine, and cholera outbreak. Please consider bidding and/or offering to show your support, or at least spread the word.
